Superior solutions for managing THI related stress:
Supplementation
Give your livestock the competitive edge they need with OmniGen by Phibro. OmniGen is a unique and patented nutritional speciality product that when fed on a daily basis, helps dry, transition and lactating cows, and their calves, maintain a properly functioning immune system, especially under stress conditions.
One of OmniGen’s proven benefits is its effectiveness in combatting heat stress. OmniGen is proven to reduce internal body temperature, reduce respiration rates and maintain dry matter intake, and therefore yield even under heat stress conditions.
Formulated with natural ingredients, OmniGen supports overall well-being of your animals supporting udder health (somatic cell count and mastitis incidence) and fertility as well as combatting heat stress.
Trusted by farmers worldwide, OmniGen is proven on farm and backed by research to meet the unique needs of your animals.
Don't settle for ordinary. Elevate your livestock's quality of life with OmniGen by Phibro. Explore the difference OmniGen can make for your animals today!
Ventilation Systems
Galebreaker ventilation systems are designed to provide optimal airflow and climate control for your livestock buildings, maximising comfort and productivity.
Temperature and humidity levels within a building are directly influenced by the effectiveness of its ventilation system. Galebreaker prioritizes natural ventilation using products such as VVS side curtains and Rollerscreens, to allow fresh air in, and ventilation ridge openings to expel the warm stale air. Preventing the build-up of heat and humidity from housed livestock.
In hotter conditions, mechanical ventilation may be necessary to keep the animals cool, however running fans can be costly. Galebreaker offers a Positive Pressure Tube Ventilation solution which efficiently delivers a direct airflow to each animal. The VentTube Cool enhances comfort during hot weather, improving lying times and sustaining milk yields (see the ACCED Project).

What is THI?
The Temperature Humidity Index (THI) is a single value representing the combined effects of air temperature and humidity associated with the level of thermal stress. This index has been developed as a weather safety index to monitor and reduce heat stress related losses and is particularly important in agriculture, as it helps to assess heat stress on livestock.
What is the effect of live THI on livestock?
Cows are comfortable and produce milk at their maximum potential. No negative effect on livestock.
Drinking behaviour changes with more visits to the drinker, longer time spent at the drinker, increased intakes and more cow displacements.
Lying and standing behaviour changes with more voluntary standing observed.
Respiration rate begins to increase (above 40-60 breaths per minute).
Cow heart rate begins to increase.
Cows are under extreme heat stress. Cow rectal temperature begins to increase (above 39.2°C).
